Kenneth Starr, who served as Independent Counsel during the Clinton presidency, died on September 13th in Houston of complications from surgery.
Starr was born and raised in San Antonio Texas, and held degrees from George Washington University, Brown University, and Duke Law School.
Starr also was president of Baylor University from 2010-2016 and Dean of the Pepperdine Law School.
Starr was most well known for being Independent Counsel for five investigations from 1994-1999. His investigation into President Bill Clinton’s dalliance with a White House intern led to Clinton’s impeachment. He also led the Whitewater investigation and four other investigations.
Starr left Baylor after several sexual assault scandals engulfed the Baylor football team, and the Baylor Board of Regents terminated Art Briles from his position as Head Coach.
Randall P. Starr, Starr’s son, released this statement on behalf of the Starr family:
"We are deeply saddened with the loss of our dear and loving Father and Grandfather, whom we admired for his prodigious work ethic, but who always put his family first. The love, energy, endearing sense of humor, and fun-loving interest Dad exhibited to each of us was truly special, and we cherish the many wonderful memories we were able to experience with him. He is now with his Lord and Savior."
Starr was 76.
