cross country, volleyball, arrests, and the concho valley almost being blown up by the USSR in the 80s
SAN ANGELO, TX - I’m not sure why I put a byline there, but it looks official.
“Good Saturday Morning, it is Saturday, September 3rd, and this is the Ryan Hernandez Newsletter.” - How I imagine Michael Barbaro or Brad Mielke saying this if it were a daily news podcast.
This is what you need to know:
The Trinity University Cross Country team started off strong at the University of Incarnate Word Twilight. The men’s team finished fifth and the women’s team (as usual) fared a little bit better at third place. I look forward to seeing how the team will DAUM-inate the competition this season. Thanks to good folks at TrinityTigers.com for the update.
Serena Williams fell in what seemed to be her final tennis match at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY on Friday. She told Vogue she plans to evolve from tennis.
Artemis 1 plans to finally launch today at 1:17 PM Central today according to NASA. I am just glad that it wasn’t named Icarus. If you know, you know.
#16 Angelo State’s volleyball team fell in two matches on Friday in Denver, CO. to Northwest Missouri State and MSU Denver. Coach Waddington looks to get his squad back on track at 12:30 against Lewis University. At least they do not have to play Clark.
Content of the speech aside, the optics of President Biden’s speech were absolutely horrible. It looked really poorly done. The three-letter networks were right in not taking it Live.
San Angelo Lake View Football defeated Sweetwater 39 - 25 last night.
Speaking of water, the crisis in Jackson, MS, is pretty bad. I’m hoping it gets resolved sooner than later and that fans saying “Hotty Toddy” and waving their cowbells use funds they’d usually use to boost and help solve that crisis first
San Angelo Central defeated El Paso Montwood 52-49. The hard-fought, defensive struggle was played in San Angelo.
Six Angelo State football players were arrested for burglary on August 26th. Status to play is unclear. My personal take? I hope they can learn from this and deal with whatever consequences that may come.
There’s a whole college slate of football games. I am too lazy to write about them but go Texas teams etc. Texas Forever. Bucees, Whataburger, etc. (I am just putting these buzzwords so that if someone looks up college football texas, this newsletter will pop up.) SEO, baby!!!!
Fun Fact to impress the special someone in your life (for me, that is my dog.)
In the 1980s, at the Eldorado (TX) Air Force Station, the United States and NORAD built a system called PAVE PAWS that was one of the only two early Cold War missile detection radars. IN ELDORADO, TEXAS!!! If nuclear war ever began between the USSR and USA then this area of West Texas was one of the first to get the missiles. I hope we see that in the next season of Stranger Things. Also, what is up with Eldorado and national news? First Warren Jeffs and now this?
Wally’s World
Hello, It is me, Wally, not Wall-e.
It has been raining. My human has not taken me for a run. That makes me sad.
I was watching an old show with my human the other day called Early Edition. It stars Kyle Chandler before he was a fake football coach. I like the show. Well, I like almost every part of the show. There’s a cat prominently involved, and I do not like that
My human has been showing me, Air Bud, lately. I don’t think he realizes that it is fictional and that dogs cannot really do that. I want to be an investigative reporter or an actor. Do you think I can be the Columbo for dogs?

Thanks for the update! Take that dog for a walk! I’m listening to a fascinating read currently about the brain exercise connection. Sparks . I bet you’d enjoy it. I believe many hours of your adolescence were spent running!
I SINCERELY APPRECIATE YOUR PERSONAL VIEW ON THE NEWS OF THE DAY.
