Texas Shootout: Texas Tech Upsets #25 Houston 33-30 in Double Overtime Thriller

San Angelo, TEXAS - Texas Tech escaped Jones ATT Stadium in Lubbock with a 33-30 2OT upset of future Big 12 conference rival, #25 Houston Cougars on Saturday evening.
Sophomore Quarterback Donovan Smith won the game going away with a 9 yard scamper in double overtime after Houston failed to score a touchdown starting off the second overtime.
Both schools started off slow with only three points between the two scored in the first quarter but quickly started the shootout.
After Tech led 17-3 at halftime, Houston came roaring back to send the game to overtime tied at 17 all.
Tech’s Smith was 36-57 for 351 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions through the air while Houston’s Clayton Tune was 20-39 for 266 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Tech had 468 total yards while Houston had 354.
The Red Raiders also led the Time of Possession with 34:27 to the Cougars’ 19:41.
